Installation#
hwid is both an importable library and a command-line tool. To use it as a
dependency, add it to your project (uv add hwid or pip install hwid) and
call hwid.get_hwid() from Python. To use the hwid command directly,
install it as a standalone tool as shown below.
Stable release#
Install hwid into an isolated environment with your
preferred tool installer:
uv tool install hwid
pipx install hwid
Or run it without installing:
uvx hwid
Homebrew (macOS/Linux):
brew install hasansezertasan/tap/hwid
Scoop (Windows):
scoop bucket add hasansezertasan https://github.com/hasansezertasan/scoop-bucket
scoop install hasansezertasan/hwid
Verify release provenance#
Public-repository release distributions include Sigstore-signed build
provenance. After downloading a wheel or source distribution, verify that the
release workflow built it from main in this repository:
gh attestation verify <downloaded-distribution> \
--repo hasansezertasan/hwid \
--signer-workflow hasansezertasan/hwid/.github/workflows/release.yml \
--source-ref refs/heads/main
Artifact attestations are available for public repositories on current GitHub
plans. Private and internal repositories require GitHub Enterprise Cloud and
the repository variable ENABLE_PRIVATE_ATTESTATIONS=true.
